Thank you for your interest in improving Global Midwifery training and by becoming an IRM CIM Preceptor.
Preceptors can be autonomous individual Midwives, providers who are members of a practice and even entire preceptor sites.
We encourage birth centers, maternity homes, private practices and hospitals to register their entire facility as a preceptor site. This allows CIM students to learn from multiple preceptors at the registered location, gaining vast knowledge from many providers.
We accept many types of qualified preceptors with extensive Midwifery/Obstetrics experience:
CIM, RM, LM, DEM, CPM, CNM, CM, Obstetrician and Indigenous Midwives as well as many other international certifications and types of Midwives.
Preceptor acceptance is on a case by case basis and is not decided solely on credentials.
Our program is rigorous, lasting on average 3-5 years, and we value all types of highly skilled and experienced preceptors.
CIM students are encouraged to train with as many preceptors as possible, in multiple birth settings that span the globe.
If you are interested in being considered as a CIM preceptor, please complete the above linked secure digital application that includes attachments of your supporting documentation.
If you prefer, you may email your supporting documentation after submission of the digital application.
info@internationalmidwife.org
Once you have completed the digital application with all supporting documentation submitted, please allow up to 2-4 weeks for processing.
If approved, you will receive a preceptor ID number via email.
If you are denied or we require additional information, you will receive an email explaining our decision, with further instructions if warranted.
