5 Step Certification Process
1.) Obtain Basis Level CPR Certification
Proof of current CPR certification is required prior to the instructor-level CPR training course.
2.) Take the IRM Pre-Instructor Exam
Aspiring instructors are required to pass a pre-course exam, before beginning the instructor training.
3.) Complete the Required Course
CPR instructor course offered by the International Registry of Midwives consists of a two day course.
Day 1: Basics of Instructing, this course will teach planning and preparation, methods of instruction, management of a classroom, and assessment of student knowledge, This is completed through 16 interactive training modules.
Day 2: Hands On Skills, this course will teach proper techniques, student encouragement, and proper equipment care.
4.) Complete CPR Instructor Training
Upon completion of the 2 day course you are required to pass a Final Instructor Exam. IRM instructor courses are designed to be taught in developed and undeveloped nations. This skill can be taught in hospitals, schools and home settings.
5.) Teach and Record Classes
IRM requires all student instructors to teach, video record and submit or video-chat/Skype 2 CPR classes before receiving the official instructor certificate and title. Upon receiving the Instructor title you will then have access to our course materials database where you can manage course records, register CPR participants and print certificates.
Degree Level- High School Diploma
Certification- Basic CPR
Experience- Preferably 2 years prior teaching experience in the medical field.
Skills-Customer service, organization, teaching, presentation, and physical dexterity to perform CPR effectively.
